Baldur's Gate Chapter 2: Mines

You need to talk to the mine owner before the guards will let you in, but he's just to the south of where they stand. There are four levels to the mines.

Mine level 1 is very quiet - mostly miners and guards. Dink asks you to return Kylee's dagger to him, but mostly you talk to miners and guards about what is going on. The stairs down to level 2 are due south.

Mine level 2 is more exciting. You get lots of arrows from the kobolds. This is great if you have a few bow-users in your party! You save Daldin, give Kylee his dagger for 200 xp. He knows about the kobolds. You find green vials that is being used to taint the ore, but don't head back yet - this isn't proof enough of wrongdoing. Head to the far right to get down to level 3.

Mine level 3 is more nasty. You find Joseph's ring, and if you sleep down here, you dream of Candlekeep. Kill off the spiders and such, and head down to the lower right side. There is a series of traps right by the exit - save before you attempt to cross them.

Mine level 4, the final level. The troublemaker, Mulahey, is right behind the door nearest you. Isn't that convenient! You'll be in a huge battle to kill him and his henchmen, but you get tons of treasure in return. You get a ring of + spells, boots vs electricity, his holy symbol, and more. Xan is a prisoner in back that you release. You get Xan's moonblade, but there's no real way to give it to him unless you drop a party member! Yet another annoyance.

You find that Mulahey was being ruled by Tazok, and that a contact is Tranzig, who is in Feldpost's inn in Beregost. Tazok apparently has ties to the two bandit gangs. Note that during the mines I gave up gathering leather armor and swords - they're very heavy, and hardly get any money in return. If you just gather the gold and gems and such, you can do this in one quick sweep.

By killing Mulahey, you finish Chapter 2 and move on to Chapter 3!
