Items - Enhanced Night Vision Goggles (ENVG)

Like the drum can, the enhanced night vision goggles are a one-per-map item that need to be found somewhere on the map. ENVG works like the nightvision mode of the Solid Eye - combining nightvision and thermal goggles, the ENVG highlights "hot" objects - specifically, people. It is best used for spotting enemies that are far away or in shadows, as they will stand out against the background as opposed to blending in. The ENVG can spot enemies through items like the cardboard box or drum can.

The ENVG is also a crucial item for Sneaking Mission mode - the Metal Gear Mk. II can disguise itself with stealth camo, but glows brightly when viewed through a pair of nightvision goggles. Thus, the goggles are the best item to have when watching for the Mk. II. Looking for Snake is slightly different. Snake's suit glows when it's not camouflaged, and doesn't when he is camouflaged. If he's not wearing the suit's mask, his head will stick out; if he is wearing the mask, it'll be camouflaged like the suit is. On the other hand, the ENVG makes everything green, and his shape will stand out more in ENVG mode. Don't rely on thermal vision to find Snake, but it's still helpful in that his shape is more easily made out. In Sneaking Missions, it should be a major priority to get your hands on the ENVGs.
